Education

• Certificate or Registry of Diagnostic Imaging accredited program

Experience / Qualifications

• Registered ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or Ultrasound with the ARRT(US) (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) required.
• Vascular experience required, registry RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist), CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International), or ARRT-Vascular US) required.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
• Proficient computer skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing

Position Summary

The Sonographer manages and performs all abdominal, gynecological, obstetrical, small parts, peripheral vascular, and cerebrovascular ultrasound examinations.

• Demonstrates excellent comprehension and knowledge of anatomy and disease and can communicate this to the Radiologist.
• The Sonographer is trained in the appropriate use of color Doppler techniques and other advanced imaging techniques.
• The Sonographer is capable of working independently to obtain all necessary clinical information for the Radiologist to make a diagnosis.
• Teamwork is an essential part of working in Imaging, therefore, the radiologic technologist accepts secondary responsibilities within the department to support teamwork.
• To be a successful ultrasound technologist, you should have excellent patient service and technical skills, as well as a strong knowledge of anatomy and pathology and performs ultrasound exams in an accurate and timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.

• Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
• TB/PPD Surveillance Program
• Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
