Summary: The Medical Assistant primarily provides clinical and administrative support to our OB/GYN physicians and other clinical staff. This position requiresstrong communicationand organizational skills andbeing ableto be empathetic towards patients whilemaintainingconfidentiality and professionalism. Essential Functions: Responsible for verifyingpatient information by interviewingpatients,recording medicalhistory, andconfirmingthe purposeofthe visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Responsible for collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, giving patientsinjections,and drawing blood. Secures patient information andmaintainspatient confidence by completing and safeguarding electronic and paper medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential. Informspatients by transmittingphysicianorders and questions about surgery. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment byestablishingand following standards andprocedures,complying withlegal regulations. Assistwith sterilizingequipment /maintainproper working knowledge of the Autoclave. Primary Duties: Prepareexam rooms for patients including stocking with proper supplies and cleaning after each patientvisit. Manage the flow of patients tooptimizethe physician’s schedule. Maintainaccurateandtimelypatient documentation inthe EHRsystem. Assistproviderswith in-office exams and procedureswhile ensuring patient comfort. Educate patients on reproductive health, prenatal care, contraception, and other health related concerns. Respond to (patients/vendors/employees) Maintain efficient supplies on hand and placeappropriate orderstomaintainsupplies. Sterilize equipment and exam rooms after each patientvisit. Coordinate and collaborate with team members. Schedulepatientsvisits andfollow-ups. Aide in answering phones, checking in and out of patients when needed. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge ofmedical terminology. Knowledge of patient care techniques, administering injections, drawing blood, takingvitals,and performing basic lab tests. Knowledge of sterilization processes. Abilityto manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Customer service skills in handling patient questions and concerns with professionalism,empathyand patience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and problem-solving patient concerns or conflicts. Ability to collaborate in a team environment. Work Environment May require occasional travel or overtime. Work is performed in a professional healthcare setting. This positionoperatesin an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,andphotocopiers. Exposure tocommunicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and toxic substances in the work environment. Physical Demands Ability to lift and move medical equipment and suppliesup to25pounds. Extended periods of standing and walking. Manual abilityto handleinstruments and equipment.
