Summary:

Position Summary:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for departmental specific patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Position Education/Qualifications:

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required (BSN preferred) Current registered nurse's license in the State of Texas required. Current BLS certification required ACLS certification required 2-5 years ICU clinical experience ECMO experience preferred Completion of or eligibility for national ECMO certification within 1 year of meeting required hours. Sensitivity to cultural and language differences Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to read, write and speak English Spanish proficiency preferred Ability to practice nursing as described by the following definition by the American Nurses Association (2016): "the essential core of practice for the registered nurse to deliver holistic, patient-focused care." B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
