Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco's homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

Compensation: $77,000 - $87,000 annually

Schedule: Full time exempt, primarily Monday - Friday during standard business hours

Location: 37 Grove St., San Francisco. Full time on site.

Position Overview: The Development Operations Manager is responsible for managing the systems, processes, and data that support Compass Family Services' fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role ensures accurate and timely gift processing, reliable database management, effective reporting, and strong operational support for the Development team.

The Development Operations Manager serves as the primary administrator and internal resource for the Development team's CRM and is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of donor and fundraising data. The Manager works closely with Finance to ensure gifts are accurately recorded and reconciled and partners with colleagues across teams to improve workflows, maintain strong systems, and support a seamless donor experience.

This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized and detail-oriented, enjoys working with data and systems, and is motivated by finding ways to make processes more accurate, efficient, and useful for the entire team.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Gift Processing:

• Process all contributions to Compass by doing the following:
• Enter all contributions accurately and completely into the Salesforce donor database.
• Log checks into the Development/Finance check log and communicate information on new gifts to the team.
• For complex gifts, compile all relevant information from all sources (commitment letters, EFT transfers, email communications, etc.) and ensure it is accurately captured in the Salesforce opportunity record.
• Process matching gifts
• Coordinate with Finance, including monthly revenue reconciliation reporting and resolution of discrepancies.
• Generate timely, accurate, and personalized acknowledgement letters for all donors.
• Maintain accurate and complete donor, gift, pledge, and prospect records in Salesforce.

Database Management & Reporting:

• Serve as the Development team's primary resource for Salesforce, maintaining data integrity and consistent database practices.
• Create and maintain reports, dashboards, lists, and other data tools to support fundraising strategy, donor stewardship, campaigns, and team planning.
• Identify opportunities to improve Development systems, workflows, and data-management processes.
• Coordinate with the Salesforce Administrator and consultant to ensure Development database needs are being met.

Other Responsibilities:

• Plan and manage logistics of annual fund and other mailings.
• Assist with events as needed
• Assist with In-Kind deliveries as needed.
• Research funding opportunities and perform donor screenings and research.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in development operations, nonprofit administration, database management, gift processing, or a related field.
• Experience managing donor databases/CRMs; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with gift processing, reconciliation, and maintaining accurate donor and financial records.
• Strong proficiency in data management, reporting, spreadsheets, and database systems, with the ability to translate data into useful information for colleagues and leadership.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex systems and processes internally and communicate professionally and effectively with donors and external partners.
• Proactive, collaborative self-starter with an interest in improving systems and processes.

• Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary: $77,000 - $87,000 annually
• Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.
• Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
• Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-6.
• Membership in OPEIU/Local 29 union.
