Registered Nurse Wound Care

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse specializing in Wound Care is responsible for providing skilled nursing care focused on wound and ostomy management to patients in an inpatient hospital setting. The role involves patient assessment, treatment planning, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse will work across various units as needed, maintaining a patient ratio of approximately 1:8-10. A minimum of two years of inpatient hospital experience is required.

Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive wound and ostomy assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Administer medications and treatments related to wound and ostomy care.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Monitor patient progress and document changes in condition accurately.
Educate patients and families on wound care management and prevention strategies.
Maintain a patient load ratio of approximately 1:8-10 to ensure quality care.
Float between hospital units as assigned to meet patient care needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
Minimum of two years inpatient hospital nursing experience.
Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills.
Proficient in medication administration and wound care protocols.
Excellent communication and interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Specialized certification in wound care or ostomy management.
Experience with case management and hospice care.
Driver's license, car insurance, and automobile for field-related duties if applicable.

Special Considerations:

No on-call responsibilities.
No weekend or block schedule requirements.
Float position between different hospital units as needed.
Patient care ratio expected to be 1:8-10.

Scheduling:

Standard inpatient hospital shifts with no specified block or weekend shifts.
Shift assignments may vary based on unit needs due to floating role.
