Senior Program Manager - Incident Insights, Global Road Safety

We hold ourselves to the highest standards and are committed to raising the bar through rigorous measurement, continuous learning, and data-driven action.To that end, Amazon's Global Road Safety (GRS) organization is seeking a Senior Program Manager to build and lead our incident management system and the data it produces. This role owns the full incident lifecycle, from initial report and investigation through enrichment with internal and external data sources, with the goal of creating an accurate, governed, and actionable record of safety incidents at a global scale. The data this system produces must be complete, consistent, and structured to power the insights and programs that drive meaningful safety incident reduction across Amazon's on-road operations.You will build programs and processes that improve how safety incidents are reported, investigated, and enriched with supplemental data from internal sources (fleet telematics, driver training records, operational and route metadata) and external sources (police crash reports, insurance claims data, government statistics, industry consortia, peer disclosures, academic research). You will establish data governance standards that ensure consistency, accuracy, and accountability across geographies and business units. You will apply AI and automation to accelerate incident processing and analysis at scale, while keeping safety professionals in the loop to validate findings and ensure data integrity. Partnering with safety, operations, and data science teams, you will ensure that every incident record surfaces the patterns and contributing factors that inform future safety programs. Beyond internal data, you will source and normalize external benchmarks to contextualize Amazon's performance and identify industry best practices that drive measurable improvement.This role operates globally, requires comfort with ambiguity, and demands the ability to influence senior leaders to act on data-driven findings.Key job responsibilities• Design and build programs that improve how safety incidents are reported, investigated, and documented across Amazon's global on-road operations, including establishing standards for investigation rigor, consistency, and timeliness.• Develop frameworks that enrich incident records with supplemental data from internal sources (fleet telematics, driver training records, operational and route metadata) and external sources (police crash reports, insurance claims data, government statistics, industry reports).• Establish data governance standards that ensure incident data is consistent, accurate, and accountable across geographies and business units, including clear ownership of data quality at each stage of the incident lifecycle.• Evaluate how AI and automation can accelerate incident processing, pattern detection, and analysis at scale, while keeping safety professionals in the loop to validate findings and ensure data integrity.• Define and refine metrics that measure the completeness and actionability of incident data, safety trends, contributing factors, and the effectiveness of incident reduction programs.• Align cross-functional stakeholders (safety, operations, legal, data science, engineering) around shared processes, standards, and priorities for how incident data is collected, used, and acted upon.• Source and normalize external benchmarks to contextualize Amazon's safety performance against peer companies, industry standards, and publicly available safety data.A day in the lifeAmazon Benefits:Amazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. If you’re passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply!Basic qualifications- 5+ years of program or project management experience- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership- Bachelor's degree in business, operations, engineering, data science, statistics, public health, transportation, or a related quantitative field.- 5+ years of experience in benchmarking, analytics, management consulting, program management, or research with a track record of delivering complex, data-driven projects independently.- Experience designing and executing benchmarking or comparative research programs, including methodology development, data sourcing, and executive-level presentation.- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau).- Experience working across multiple geographies and business units with the ability to normalize disparate data sets.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership.- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 15-25%).Preferred qualification - Master's degree (MBA, MPH, MS in data science/analytics, or transportation safety).- 10+ years of relevant experience, including transportation, logistics, fleet safety, or insurance.- Direct experience with commercial fleet safety data or government transportation safety databases (e.g., FMCSA, NHTSA FARS, EU CARE database).- Background in management consulting, internal benchmarking services, or competitive intelligence.- Knowledge of LEAN methodologies, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving frameworks.- Experience building benchmarking programs from scratch, including defining standards and driving organizational adoption.- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive action on analytical findings.- A passion for safety and genuine motivation to use data to protect people.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
