About the Role As an Emergency Department Technician, you'll work under the direction of Registered Nurses and Providers to deliver hands-on patient care and help keep the Emergency Department running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying busy, thinking on their feet, and creating calm during moments that can feel overwhelming for patients and families. What You'll Do Welcome patients arriving from triage, ambulance transport, or other care settings. Take and document vital signs and promptly communicate significant changes to the care team. Assist patients with mobility, comfort, and personal care needs. Prepare rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures and treatments. Support providers and nurses during exams, procedures, and emergency interventions. Apply dressings, splints, casts, immobilization devices, and other treatments within your scope of practice. Monitor patients and provide continuous observation when needed. Transport patients safely throughout the hospital. Help keep patient rooms stocked, organized, clean, and ready for care. Enter orders, retrieve results, and support communication within the department. Serve as a reassuring, compassionate presence for patients and families throughout their emergency care journey. In Your First 90 Days Build confidence with ED workflows and equipment Establish trusted working relationships with nurses, providers, and fellow caregivers Deliver safe, compassionate patient care while meeting department competencies What You'll Bring Required Education One of the following: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or Graduate of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program Required Experience At least 1 year of experience as a CNA, Medical Assistant, or EMT Knowledge of age-specific patient care across the lifespan Preferred Experience Acute care or hospital experience Leadership or supervisory experience Required Credentials One of the following Washington State credentials : Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Plus: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire (Issued through American Heart Association or American Red Cross) Medical Assistant Phlebotomist (MAPWA) certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
