Saw Operator

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Saw Operator to set up and operate industrial saw equipment used to cut raw materials to specified dimensions. This position is responsible for reviewing work orders, measuring materials, operating cutting equipment, inspecting completed work, and ensuring materials meet production specifications before moving to the next stage of manufacturing. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, basic mechanical aptitude, and experience working in a manufacturing, metal fabrication, or industrial production environment. Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate industrial saw equipment to cut metal and other materials according to work orders, drawings, and production specifications. Review work orders and production instructions to determine material type, dimensions, quantities, and cutting requirements. Measure and verify material dimensions using tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools . Load, position, secure, and remove materials from saw equipment safely. Select appropriate saw settings, speeds, feeds, and blades based on material and job requirements. Inspect completed cuts for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications. Identify and report defective materials, equipment problems, and quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance. Check saw blades, fluids, guards, and other machine components for proper condition and operation. Replace or assist with replacing saw blades and tooling when properly trained and authorized. Maintain accurate production counts and complete required production documentation. Properly identify, label, and organize cut materials for downstream production processes. Follow established cutting plans and procedures to minimize material waste and scrap. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards . Follow all company safety procedures, including required PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and safe material-handling practices . Participate in safety meetings, training, continuous improvement activities, and departmental initiatives. Coordinate with production, quality, maintenance, warehouse, and other departments to meet production goals. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in manufacturing, machine operation, saw operation, metal fabrication, or a related industrial environment preferred . Experience operating band saws, cold saws, or similar industrial cutting equipment preferred . Ability to read and understand work orders, production instructions, and basic drawings. Ability to accurately use tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate cuts. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to safely handle raw materials and operate industrial equipment. Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and productivity. Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
