Overnight Veterinary Hospitalist - ICU & Inpatient Care Champion

Job Description Position: Overnight ICU & Inpatient Hospitalist This role primarily involves managing inpatient cases for both our Emergency and Specialty departments, while also supporting incoming ER cases during your shift as needed. About AVES (Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center) AVES is a locally managed, progressive, fast‑paced multidisciplinary hospital. A brand‑new second location will open late 2025 and will feature 35 exam rooms, 9 surgery suites, expansive treatment areas, integrated oncology service, and a client‑facing pharmacy. Diagnostic Imaging Capabilities MRI CT Ultrasound Fluoroscopy Digital Radiography Accuray TomoTherapy System Interventional Radiology Suite Specialties Internal Medicine Interventional Radiology Surgery Neurology Critical Care Medical Oncology Anesthesiology (boarded) Diagnostic Imaging Partnership AVES partners with CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets to provide cardiology services to hospitalized patients. Additional outpatient specialties—rehabilitation, dermatology, and ophthalmology—are expected to join once both hospitals are operational. Responsibilities Overnight veterinary hospitalist handling inpatient care, triage of emergency cases, collaboration with specialists, and documentation with VetREQ AI to reduce documentation fatigue.
