Job Details Location: Dana Point, CA 92629 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $42.00 - $49.00 hourly Shift: Graveyard (12‑hour NOC 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3/4 alternating schedule Thursday–Saturday + every other Wednesday Location: Assigned to one of Orange County residential facilities in Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano Beach, or Irvine Benefits: Medical, dental, vision insurance with employer contribution; 401(k) with employer match up to 6% after 90 days; gym membership/wellness reimbursement up to $50/month; PTO & CA Paid Sick Leave; ongoing training and growth opportunities. Make a Difference At Alter Behavioral Health, every shift matters. As an Overnight Nurse (RN), you play a critical role in ensuring the safety, medical stability, and recovery journey of clients. This is more than clinical care — it’s being a calm, skilled, and compassionate presence during the overnight hours when clients need support the most. What You’ll Do Medication Management Administer, dispense, and document medications in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols Monitor for side effects and report concerns promptly Client Monitoring & Care Observe client physical and mental health status throughout the shift Obtain and document vital signs as required Respond promptly to changes in condition or medical needs Client Support & Engagement Provide therapeutic support and build rapport with clients Answer health-related questions and reinforce treatment goals Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment Crisis Intervention Respond effectively to medical or psychiatric emergencies Utilize de‑escalation techniques and provide immediate care as needed Collaborate with clinical leadership during escalations Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems Communicate observations and concerns to clinical and leadership teams Ensure continuity of care through clear shift reporting Collaboration & Program Support Work closely with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives Support overall program operations and client care standards Qualifications What We’re Looking For Compassionate, attentive, and client‑centered Able to remain alert and engaged during a 12‑hour overnight shift Calm under pressure with strong clinical judgment Strong communication and teamwork skills Comfortable working in a residential behavioral health setting Preferred Qualifications 1+ year experience in behavioral health or residential treatment settings Overnight nursing or healthcare experience Knowledge of trauma‑informed care practices Crisis prevention/intervention certification (CPI, PMAB, HWC, or equivalent) EMR experience Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred Current California RN license in good standing (no board actions) Prior experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or substance use treatment preferred Knowledge of medication administration, mental health conditions, and recovery principles Requirements Valid California Driver’s License required Reliably work the assigned overnight schedule with consistent attendance and punctuality CPR & First Aid certification required Must pass Live Scan fingerprint clearance Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, and client monitoring Remain alert throughout overnight shifts Walk up and down stairs in multi‑level residential homes Lift and carry up to 25 pounds Safely respond during medical or behavioral emergencies Operate computers and EMR systems Compliance Successful Live Scan clearance Completion of required health/drug screenings and TB testing Compliance with DHCS, Title 22 regulations, Joint Commission standards, HIPAA, and applicable California employment laws DISCLAIMER This posting provides a general overview of the RN role at Alter Behavioral Health.
