In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering accurate technical documentation, pricing, and product expertise for new equipment and engineered systems. You won't just be filling orders—you'll be contributing to solutions that reduce downtime, enhance system performance, and serve the long-term success of our customers.Our customers span industrial plants, water and wastewater treatment facilities, commercial buildings, oil and gas markets, and contractors. Together, our employee-owners help build healthy and prosperous communities through engineered solutions that matter.As an Inside Sales Application Engineer, your focus will be on enabling sales success through precision, technical support, and proactive coordination.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with outside sales to generate accurate and competitive technical proposalsReview project specifications, drawings, and application needsPrepare detailed submittals, quotations, and order documentsSource and coordinate quotes from vendors for engineered productsProvide product data, installation guidance, and application knowledge to internal teamsMaintain communication across engineering, operations, and procurement to meet deadlinesSupport order entry, invoicing, and document control for accuracy and efficiencyDeliver value-added solutions that drive long-term cost-of-ownership benefits for our customersSkills & Qualifications:Required:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical disciplineStrong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); CAD familiarity is a plusAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsExcellent communication and documentation skillsAnalytical thinker and problem solverCollaborative mindset with a customer-service orientationSelf-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environmentPreferred:Experience in inside sales, applications engineering, or technical supportFamiliarity with pumps, rotating equipment, or fluid handling systemsExposure to industrial, municipal, or construction project environmentsExperience working with ERP or quoting/scheduling softwareWhy Work With Us?Cogent is a growing organization with a long-term focus on delivering engineered solutions, equipment sales, repair services, installation, and proactive system support.
