If the role interests you and you would like to be considered we encourage you to apply!We are looking for a Sales Manager to join our Field Sales team.Sales Managers are responsible for managing an assigned sales territory. These territory management responsibilities include developing world class relationships with major home center retail partners, such as The Home Depot and Lowe's, in their assigned territory and increasing the in-store presence of Scotts Miracle-Gro brands in the stores in their assigned territory. They develop and execute sales/marketing plans, are responsible for managing a budget, and oversee merchandising execution in the stores in their assigned territory. Sales Managers also manage and supervise a team of Merchandisers. Some of the great benefits of the Sales Manager role include immediate and substantial leadership opportunities, both within our business and through relationships with our major customers, as well as bonus potential and vehicle reimbursement.In this role you will:Manage and direct the work of Merchandisers including planning, scheduling and delegating work assignments along with providing ongoing feedbackUtilize strategic selling tactics by analyzing and preparing key metrics to educate our home center retail partners on business opportunitiesDevelop retail sales/marketing plans and other creative marketing tools and eventsDevelop recruiting plans, interviewing, and make hiring decisions to build out your Merchandiser team while effectively managing your budgetProvide job training and communicate product knowledge across the portfolio of Scotts brandsAssist retailers in proper merchandising of Scott's product lines, including the use of point-of-purchase materials, as appropriate, to meet account needs.What you'll need to be successful:High school diploma or GEDMinimum of 1 year experience in retail, merchandising, and or account managementPreferred experience supervising/managing other employees and a budgetStrong delegation skillsAbility to work independently with little or no supervisionExperience using sales forecasting toolsA problem solving and service oriented attitudeAbility to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekendsCurrent, valid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to walk, stand, climb an 8-12 foot ladder, lift up to 45 lbs and be exposed to weather elements (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain)The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $62,100.00 - $73,100.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.
