Job Title: CNC Shot Peening Operator
Job Description
This role involves setting up, operating, and adjusting CNC shot peening equipment to produce high-quality parts that meet precise specifications. You will work with Fanuc-controlled CNC machines, interpret technical documentation, and perform inspections to ensure each component meets strict dimensional and quality standards. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized production environment.
Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC shot peening machines in accordance with production requirements and work instructions.
• Read and understand basic G-Code programs to run and adjust CNC processes.
• Make program edits and troubleshoot CNC machine issues to maintain consistent production quality.
• Operate and adjust Fanuc-controlled CNC equipment, including changing settings and parameters as needed.
• Perform machine setups, changeovers, and production runs to meet schedule and output targets.
• Monitor machine performance during operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Conduct first-piece inspections and in-process inspections to verify that parts meet specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, prints, and technical drawings to understand part requirements and tolerances.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using appropriate measuring tools and inspection equipment.
• Load and unload parts from automated shot peening equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Adjust nozzles, intensities, and machine settings to achieve required shot peening coverage and intensity.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety and housekeeping standards.
• Work collaboratively with production, quality, and training teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Learn and become certified in the companys shot peening process and apply that knowledge in daily operations.

Essential Skills

• Previous CNC machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot production equipment and processes.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Understanding of CNC machine functions, tooling, machine movement, and setup concepts.
• Familiarity with G-Code and CNC programming fundamentals.
• Ability to work with tight tolerances and adhere to strict quality specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Reliable attendance and a willingness to learn and follow established procedures.
• Ability to operate and adjust Fanuc-controlled CNC equipment.
• Capability to perform dimensional checks using measuring tools and inspection equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with Fanuc CNC controls.
• Experience performing machine setups and process adjustments in a production environment.
• Preventative maintenance or machine troubleshooting experience.
• Experience in machining, metalworking, or industrial manufacturing.
• Comfort working with automated shot peening equipment and related processes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with production, quality, and training teams.

Work Environment
You will train on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. After successfully completing the training program, you may be assigned to either first shift or second shift, with second shift typically running from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM. The facility is a heavy industrial environment that can be very dirty and does not have air conditioning, so you should be comfortable working in a warm, dusty setting typical of metalworking and shot peening operations. Uniforms are provided as part of the dress code to support safety and consistency on the production floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
