Job Summary

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) — Oconomowoc, WI. This position provides care for critically ill patients in a 14-bed intensive care setting, including medical, cardiac, trauma, surgical, and neurological cases. The role requires strong critical care skills, including ventilator and tracheostomy management, invasive line management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and medication titration.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Two years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience; Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; proficiency in ventilator and tracheostomy management, tube and drain management, chest tubes, arterial lines, central venous pressure monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, surgical recovery, and titration of sedation, vasopressors, cardiac medications, pain medications, and paralytics; electronic medical record experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification; experience with abdominal pressure monitoring, external ventricular drains, continuous venovenous hemofiltration, and intra-aortic balloon pumps.
• Schedule: Day or night shifts from 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM; 12 hours per shift; 36 hours per week. Every-other-weekend rotation, one holiday per contract, and no on-call requirement.
• Additional Information: Patient populations include sepsis, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory failure, renal and liver failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, diabetic ketoacidosis, congestive heart failure, ST-elevation and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, post-catheterization recovery, trauma, gynecologic and gastrointestinal surgery, subdural hematoma, traumatic brain injury, cerebrovascular accident, transient ischemic attack, and syncope. Typical patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3. Team nursing may be used for higher-acuity assignments and long-term ventilated patients. Departmental support includes respiratory therapy and hospitalist and intensivist coverage around the clock, along with certified nursing assistant support, telemetry monitoring, and rehabilitation services during daytime hours. A two-day orientation is provided, including system access training and unit-based preceptorship. Professional solid-color attire is required, without graphics, logos, or designs.
