GroundSystems is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant who can keep financial information accurate, organized, and moving on schedule. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys both hands-on accounting work and the opportunity to improve processes, support business decisions, and guide day-to-day accounting operations.

Why this role matters

You will be a key member of our finance and accounting team, working closely with the VP of Administration & Accounting. Your work will help ensure our financial records are reliable, month-end and year-end close processes stay on track, and leaders have the information they need to make sound decisions. You will also manage the Accounting & Office Administrator.

What you will do

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Manage the Accounting & Office Administrator.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Analyze financial data and provide useful insights to management.
• Take on other related responsibilities as business needs evolve.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• One to three years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or a similar platform, along with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Consistent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.

Work environment and physical requirements

This position works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level is typically minimal to moderate.

While performing this role, the team member may be required to sit, walk, stand for up to seven hours at a time, use hands to handle objects, reach, balance, stoop, talk, and hear. The team member must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds and must be able to read documents and a computer screen.
