Associate Professor of Clinical Practice, Internal Medicine-Hematology/Oncology

Faculty Position in Division of Medical Oncology

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a full-time physician at the rank of Associate Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of Medical Oncology. This position emphasizes high-quality clinical cancer care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department. The successful candidate will join a team of faculty dedicated to delivering exceptional oncology care, advancing clinical education, and participating in scholarly, quality improvement, and research.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient oncology care, including management of solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and supportive oncology care.
• Participate in chemotherapy administration, clinical trials, and multidisciplinary tumor boards.
• Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and didactic oncology settings.
• Engage in departmental and divisional quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teamsincluding surgery, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and palliative carefor optimal patient outcomes.
• Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and oncology-focused academic programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment.
• Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development in oncology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
