The Overnight Peer Mentor provides awake overnight peer support and supervision to ensure the safety and security of the environment. This role is integral in supporting guests in their recovery process, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and coordinating effectively with other program staff.

In compliance with NYS's Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is listed above. Responsibilities  

• Assists guests in articulating recovery goals and identifying barriers to community integration. 
• Provides appropriate interventions based on guests' goals and documents guest progress. 
• Engages and communicates effectively with Program staff to integrate guest services. 
• Maintains the safety of guests and the facility through regular environmental monitoring and crisis response. 
• Responds to warm line calls and facilitates timely access to services. 
• Conducts check-in and check-out activities and facilitates groups and activities. 
• Collaborates with community agencies to identify and maintain resources. 
• Provides outreach to guests to encourage participation and support. 
• Assists guests in obtaining community supports that align with their recovery goals. 
• Provides role modeling, coping techniques, and empowerment skills training to guests. 
• Maintains documentation standards as required by funders and East House policies and procedures. 

Other Duties  

• Follows all applicable policies, federal and state laws, and East House compliance standards. 
• Collaborates with the Office of Ethics, Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance, and document corrective actions.

Working Conditions/Work Environment  

Traditional office and/or residential environment. Occasionally subjected to pressure due to time demands. May have to travel to various program locations which may not be accessible for individuals with reduced mobility.

Requirements:

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in a Peer role preferred.
• Valid NYS Drivers License

Licensure/Certifications:

• Peer Certification preferred (provisional and/or permanent). If not currently certified, the employee will obtain certification (provisional and/or permanent) within 18 months of hire.

Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Past or present consumer of mental health and/or chemical addiction services, with the ability to relate to others currently using those services.
• Demonstrated skills in effective oral and written communication and the ability to work cooperatively with culturally diverse guests, staff, and community representatives.
• Ability to work independently.
• Basic computer literacy, including the ability to perform basic searches online, use email, and make simple edits to documents.
• Basic Microsoft Word skills, including the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts, check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open, and organize electronic files.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply person-centered practices.
