Dean of Students

The Dean of Students is a 10 month position and is included in the Newark Teachers' Association CBA as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA). Starting Salary: $49,275 Base & commensurate with Experience. Additional Salary Credit available for Master's Degree and Graduate Credits. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Dean of Students will work closely with the principal, grade and department levelteams, instructional and behavioral coaches, schoolpersonnelandstudentsto build andmaintaina positive, safe school climate.The Dean of Studentswilldemonstrateand implementsuccessfulstudent behavior management strategies.The Dean of Students will support the principal of the school to ensure that students receive the best possible education and services with the resources available, and the school is a positive, safe, healthy, and productive place to learn. Comprehensive understanding of curriculum, instruction, and instructional supervision. Knowledge of effective educational practices that support student achievement and continuous school improvement. Ability to establish, communicate, and maintain high expectations for students, staff, and self. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with staff, families, community members, and other stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills that foster collaboration, trust, shared responsibility, and continuous improvement. Ability to make sound decisions, solve problems effectively, and address challenges in a professional manner. Ability to create and sustain a positive, collaborative, student-centered learning environment. Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability in all actions.
