Marketing Associate

Defense Strategies Institute is hiring a Marketing Associate to join our team. This is a Junior-level position and requires one year of previous professional experience.

As a Marketing Associate, you will be responsible for creating detailed marketing strategies and campaigns to attract senior-level delegates in the defense, government, and homeland security industry to attend important forums and conferences. The right candidate will be self-motivated, have natural teamwork abilities, and be career oriented.

In this position, you will be working on 3-4 event marketing campaigns at once. Therefore, the right candidate will also thrive in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment.

You will work with the Director of Marketing to develop and deploy full lifecycle marketing campaigns for each event (conference) in your portfolio.

Specific responsibilities include:

 - Email Marketing (HubSpot) – create, send, and track marketing emails to targeted databases

 - Copywriting – write marketing emails, social media posts, press releases, and partner content

 - Media and Advertising Partnerships – prospect and manage partnerships for promoting events in your portfolio, establish and maintain B2B and B2C customer relationships

 - Customer Service – serve as the main POC for all inquiries related to events in your portfolio

 - Graphic Design – create appealing ads, print items, website and social media collateral using Adobe Photoshop

- Stay on top of changes in the marketing environment to best serve the objective of the event while adjusting plans accordingly

Software Skills Required:

- Microsoft Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher

- Experience in an email marketing platform (ie. MailChimp, Constant Contact, Salesforce Marketing Cloud)

- Adobe Photoshop or Canva (familiarity with the programs, don't need to be an expert.)

Qualifications:

At least one year of work experience in a related field

Bachelor’s Degree required
