Position Overview


Seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to support our sales and production teams. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing, and ensuring materials arrive on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, identify, and evaluate vendors and suppliers based on quality, pricing, service, and reliability
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and vendors
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
• Place purchase orders and follow up to ensure compliance with quantity, quality, price, and delivery requirements
• Resolve order discrepancies promptly and professionally
• Translate MRP requirements and internal requisitions into accurate purchasing actions
• Maintain purchasing and vendor records within the company's computer system
• Work collaboratively with sales, production, and internal teams
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and attendance expectations

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience
• Familiarity with metal products and metal fabrication processes preferred
• Working knowledge of Excel and general computer systems
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Customer-service mindset with attention to detail
• Ability to function effectively in a busy, occasionally noisy environment

Education

• High school diploma preferred

Work Environment

• Climate-controlled office setting
• Business casual attire (formal office attire as needed)
• Minimal supervision required

Physical Requirements

• Primarily seated role with occasional walking and standing
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs on occasion
• Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and office equipment
• Occasional bending, reaching, twisting, and stair climbing
