Head Athletic Trainer

Job Description Primary Duties Athletic Training Oversight Provide overall leadership for sports medicine by developing the athletic training vision and strategic direction; conducting regular staff meetings, hiring, coordinating and supervising sports medicine personnel; provide oversight of training room facilities, scheduling coverage for practices and events and ensure daily reporting of injuries and illness is accurate and timely. Student-Athlete Support Prepare student-athletes for workouts, practices and competition; provide evaluations of, treatment for and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for collegiate student-athletes; maintain complete medical records (accident reports, treatment records, insurance forms, etc.) in accordance with HIPPA regulations. Athletic Training Management Serve as the main liaison for communication between athletic training staff and team physicians, doctors and coaches; prepare and administer the annual operating budget for athletic training; and oversee the purchase and procurement of medical supplies, equipment and technologies. - Provide and continue to cultivate positive relationships and interaction with academics while supervising and assigning athletic training students in our CAATE-accredited program.
- Support coaches who conduct camps and clinics; serve on committees that promote the success of the program and athletics; establish and maintain community contacts that enhance the success of the program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.
- Master's degree in athletic training or related field
- Certification by the NATA Board of Certification
- Professional CPR/AED and First Aid Certified
- Special knowledge, abilities, and skills
- Willing and able to work nights and weekends
- Physical ability to fulfill duties of the position including being able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to demonstrate successful skills in cooperation, organization, communication and problem solving
- Able to be successful in an environment reflective of CSU Pueblo
- Three years of successful post-master's degree experience as a certified athletic trainer at the collegiate, professional, or related level and experience working with elite athletes
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to motivate, teach, and counsel student-athletes
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
- Strong management, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience as head athletic trainer of collegiate program
- Experience working with student populations reflective of CSU Pueblo
