Specimen Technician

Job TitlePay Range: $16.20hr - $21.00hrRequirement/Must HaveHigh School diploma or equivalent.Basic understanding of computers.Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.Ability to work nightshift, weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime as required.Ability to learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests.Ability to learn and understand compliance regulations related to test ordering.ResponsibilitiesPerform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station, presort, and imaging.Handle pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.Perform centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens.Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner.Work in a biohazard environment while practicing established safety habits.Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.Maintain a neat and clean work area.Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.Demonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to changing daily demands.Nice To HaveKnowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.Previous hospital laboratory experience.Previous experience in a production environment.SkillsData Entry.Centrifugation.Aliquoting.Specimen Processing.Medical Terminology.Laboratory Safety.Alphanumeric Typing.Qualification And EducationHigh School Diploma or GED.Physical Requirements (Due To Nature Of Job, The Candidate Must Have):Ability to sit for long periods.Ability to stand for long periods.
