Position Overview

• Unit Type: Respiratory Care Unit
• Patient Population: Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients
• Float Requirement: Float to chronic care units such as Respiratory Care Units and Respiratory Step-Down Unit

Experience and Certification Requirements

• Must have 1-2 years of experience
• Strong preference for experience with respiratory/vented patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform IV starts, drip administration, and blood administration
• Conduct EKGs, medication titrations, and glucose monitoring
• Manage wound vac changes and apply both complex and simple wound dressings
• Provide tracheostomy care and suctioning
• Catheter management including straight cath and Foley care
• Access ports and change central line dressings
• Measure wounds accurately

• Shift: Nights
• Ratios:
• Respiratory Care Unit: Day/Evening 1:9; Night 1:12
• Respiratory Step-Down Unit: Day/Evening 1:9; Night 1:12
• Other Units: Day/Evening 1:7-10; Night 1:12

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is preferred
• Nurses will not manage ventilators; this responsibility is handled by Respiratory Therapists

• Respiratory Care Unit Size: 36 beds
• Respiratory Step-Down Unit Size: 38 beds
