Telecommunicator I
Halifax County Government
Responsibilities Dispatch law enforcement, medical, fire, rescue and other equipment and personnel in response to emergency and non-emergency situations. Work at a communications console for extended periods, analyze communications, type detailed & accurate messages, and speak distinctly. Deal courteously with the public and emergency responders under stressful conditions. Work varying shifts, including weekend and holiday schedules. Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation. Ability to obtain and maintain DCI, Basic Telecommunicator, EMD, and CPR certifications. Preferred experience in computerized dispatching or dispatching in law enforcement, EMS, or fire, and knowledge of the Halifax County area. Ability to type 35 words per minute. Scheduled shift work.
