Sales Development Representative - Industrial Equipment (Field Based)

Remote - Eastern United States | 50%+ Travel | Company Car Provided

$65,000 - $80,000 base + uncapped commission | Target first-year earnings: $90,000 - $115,000+

About the Role

We design, manufacture, and service industrial vertical access equipment - permanent and temporary elevators, hoists, and work platforms used in cement plants, pulp and paper mills, power generation facilities, petrochemical refineries, and marine and port operations.

You will own the front end of the sales process across the Eastern United States: finding opportunities, walking customer facilities, identifying aging or obsolete equipment, and building the proposals that turn into orders. Site surveys are conducted on equipment at significant elevation, so comfort working at height is a firm requirement of this role, not a preference.

This is a developmental position with a defined path toward Regional Sales Manager. You will gain exposure to both capital equipment sales and aftermarket service, upgrade, and modernization work.

What You Will Do

• Hunt for new opportunities through market research, facility outreach, industry networking, and targeted prospecting across industrial plants and heavy industrial sites
• Conduct on-site equipment surveys and assessments, including inspection work performed at significant heights
• Identify replacement, refurbishment, modernization, and parts opportunities inside existing customer facilities, with particular focus on aging and obsolete equipment
• Build and present budgetary and formal proposals, working alongside the Regional Sales Manager who leads negotiation and close
• Travel extensively throughout the territory - roughly 50% or more, including multi-day trips with several customer visits per swing
• Build deep technical knowledge of the full product and service portfolio
• Maintain accurate pipeline, quotation, and customer activity records in CRM

Who We Are Looking For

Mechanical aptitude matters more to us than sales tenure. If you can look at a piece of industrial equipment and want to understand how it works, we can teach you everything else.

Candidates typically come from one of two backgrounds:

• Sales background: 1-3 years in inside sales, sales development, business development, account management, or technical customer support at an industrial, equipment, or manufacturing company - and you are ready for your first field territory.
• Technical background: Field service, maintenance, technician, early-career engineering, or a trade or technical school program - and you want to move into a commercial role. No prior sales title required.

Requirements

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and genuine technical curiosity about industrial equipment
• Comfortable working at significant heights - site surveys are performed on equipment at elevation and this is non-negotiable
• Comfortable working in active industrial plant environments
• Willing and able to travel 50% or more, including multi-day trips
• Reside within approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of a major airport in the Eastern US - Philadelphia, Baltimore, Richmond, Charlotte, Raleigh, Greenville, Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville are all strong territory locations
• Valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record - a company vehicle is provided and driving record is verified as part of the hiring process
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Helpful, Not Required

• Exposure to industrial equipment, heavy machinery, cranes, hoists, elevators, or vertical access systems
• Bachelor's degree, technical degree, or trade and technical school certification
• Familiarity with industrial plant operations or capital equipment sales cycles

• $65,000 - $80,000 base salary depending on experience, plus uncapped commission
