Make an impact supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a resource classroom setting. This contract position serves kindergarten through second grade students, providing targeted support within an inclusive educational community.

This role begins August 17th and offers flexible scheduling—approximately 25 hours per week, or an alternative 4-day, 20-hour schedule—according to your availability. The caseload includes around 24 students, ensuring meaningful engagement and a manageable workload. Located near Sylva, NC, the position focuses on early childhood special education needs.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current Exceptional Children (EC) licensure for North Carolina is required
• Prior experience as a special education teacher is highly preferred
• Familiarity with elementary school settings, especially grades K-2
• Knowledge of the ECATS system for documentation and compliance
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, administration, and families
• Proficiency in delivering instruction through both pull-out reading and push-in math support

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver pull-out reading instruction and push-in math support for assigned students
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Complete progress reports at five-week intervals
• Manage new referrals and complete all related documentation in the ECATS system
• Coordinate with general education staff to support inclusion and differentiated learning
• Foster a positive learning environment for diverse learners
