Sales Operations Analyst

The Sales Operations Analyst supports the internal operations of the Machine Sales Division at Puckett Machinery. This role works across sales administration, sales analysis, new machine inventory, quoting support, forecasting, rental fleet planning, rental operations, and special projects. The position is designed to provide broad exposure to the operational functions of the Sales Department while helping address known process, reporting, and coordination needs across the division.

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. The Sales Operations Analyst works closely with the Sales Administrative Manager, Heavy Rents Manager, Used Equipment Manager, Sales Analysts, Sales Coordinators, Outside Sales Management, and other cross-functional teams to improve day-to-day execution and support better business decisions.

• Sales Forecasting & Market Analytics: Support the sales forecasting process for new machines by maintaining forecast data, analyzing historical trends, monitoring sales pipeline activity, and preparing reporting that helps leadership evaluate revenue, demand, and market activity.
• Inventory Management Support: Assist with new and used machine inventory tracking, including asset age, stocking levels, availability, turn rates, and data accuracy within CRM/ERP systems. Help identify inventory issues, reporting gaps, and opportunities to improve visibility and planning.
• Quoting, Pricing & Deal Support: Support quote tracking, deal documentation, pricing review, and quote-to-actual analysis. Help improve consistency, accuracy, and follow-through in the quoting and sales support process.
• Financial & Operational Reporting : Prepare and analyze reports related to departmental performance, gross margin, inventory, rental activity, sales activity, and other key operating metrics. Help identify trends, variances, and areas requiring follow-up.
• Rental Fleet Planning & Operations Support: Assist the Heavy Rents Manager with rental fleet analysis, utilization reporting, fleet planning, retirement and replacement review, and operational follow-up. Help monitor fleet performance and support actions that improve availability, utilization, and return on investment.
• Process Improvement & SOP Development: Document current workflows, identify process gaps, and assist with the creation and improvement of standard operating procedures. Support efforts to make internal Sales Department processes more consistent, repeatable, and scalable.
• Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination: Assist with operational coordination involving manufacturers, third-party logistics partners, internal departments, and other business partners. Help prepare reports, organize follow-up items, coordinate schedules, and support recurring operational meetings.
• Special Projects: Serve as a project resource for Sales Department initiatives, data cleanup efforts, reporting improvements, operational problem areas, and other assignments where additional focused capacity is needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5\u20137+ years managing\u00a0 internal operations , financial oversight, and inventory systems (experience in dealership, heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial rental industries is highly preferred).
• Education: High school diploma plus 6-8 years dedicated experience in business-to-business inside sales or operations\u00a0required.\u00a0 Bachelor\u2019s level degree in business, marketing, engineering, finance plus minimum 3-5 years dedicated business operations experience\u00a0preferred.\u00a0\u00a0
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, PowerBI), CRM platforms (Salesforce.com), and financial reporting tools.
• Core Competencies: P&L management, asset optimization, process mapping, and data-driven decision-making.
