Description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with vascular and general surgery experience for a Level III Trauma Center OR position.

Details

• Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Magnet designation and Primary Stroke Center status
• Surgery Room unit with 21 OR beds and 1:1 patient ratio
• Primarily general surgery cases but must be able to work all case types including vascular
• Case types include Neuro/ENT (spine, cranial, ENT procedures), Orthopedic (fractures, hips, total joints), and General (breasts/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, oncology, GU, GYN, robotic-assisted)
• Uses navigation systems including Medtronic, Medtronic Stealth, Stryker, and Synaptive for cranial and spine cases
• Uses Hanna Table for orthopedic procedures
• EPIC EMR system along with Alaris and Pyxis equipment
• 8-hour day shift with variable start times between 5:30am-7am, 40 hours per week
• Floats within surgical services to General Main OR specialty and Urology center, but not to other hospital sites
• On-call rotation on an 8-week schedule with 30-minute response time, including end-of-shift, evening, and overnight call slots
• Weekend call rotation of 1-2 weekends per 8-week schedule, Saturday and Sunday 12-hour shifts

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience required
• BLS certification required
• Active ST license required if applicable
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Vascular surgery case experience required
• Ability to work all surgical case types including general, orthopedic, neuro, ENT, and vascular
• Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Work alongside Charge Nurse, Lead, Supervisor, and Manager support on the unit
• Robotic (XI) case training not typically provided to travelers unless strong prior background and longer contract commitment
• Orientation is approximately 1-1.5 weeks depending on team and shift assignment
• Hospital-provided surgical scrubs; scrub caps allowed but must be covered by a surgical bouffant
• Free parking available with shuttle service to and from parking structure
• On-campus food options include Starbucks and cafeteria
• No call rooms available on site
• Holiday weeks offer option to work 4x10-hour shifts to achieve full hours or take holiday unpaid
• First-time travelers not recommended for this position and would require further supervisor approval
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignment
