Clinical Nurse Coordinator Stepdown

Methodist Hospital, part of SA Health, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Stepdown unit in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to adult patients transitioning from critical care to medical-surgical levels of care. You will serve as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses, providing direct patient care while also supporting patient flow, staff assignments, and daily unit operations. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, case management, and ancillary departments, you will ensure safe, timely, and effective care plans that promote optimal patient outcomes, reduced length of stay, and smooth transitions of care. As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, monitor complex hemodynamic and telemetry data, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition. You will oversee and participate in medication administration, patient education, discharge planning, and coordination of multidisciplinary rounds. You will assist with precepting and mentoring new nurses, techs, and students, fostering a supportive learning environment consistent with Methodist Hospital’s culture of teamwork, innovation, and dedication to patient-centered care. You will also help lead quality and safety initiatives, including adherence to clinical pathways, infection prevention practices, fall and pressure injury reduction, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record. This position requires strong critical-thinking, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced stepdown setting. The ideal candidate is an experienced Registered Nurse with recent stepdown, progressive care, telemetry, or ICU experience who is comfortable acting as a charge nurse, resource, and liaison between staff and leadership.
