Lead Mobile Diesel Mechanic, $5000 New Hire Bonus

Job Summary Lead Mobile Diesel Technician – DOT Management Level, Individual Contributor. Flexible work option; can work remote if located in specified city, state, or region. 100% travel required. Variable shift schedule. Hourly base pay $35.58 – $53.37 per hour, with potential commissions, incentive programs, and a $5,000 New Hire Bonus (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days). Responsibilities Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Achieve mastery in majority of technical disciplines and provide advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs. Lead jobsites and maintain strong customer interaction, consistently influencing customer satisfaction. Mentor and teach other technicians in the field, tailoring instruction to their learning styles. Collaborate with Mobile Technician Manager to make decisions on technician performance and potential; perform Mobile Technician Manager duties in absence. Schedule and manage preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fans, clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, differentials, etc.). Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments, handheld computers, pressure gauges, and road tests. Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, carrying out safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Listen to clients, assess their needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Prioritize work activities, allocate time, and use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document all work on Repair Orders (RO) using company‑issued iOS device and TRAIT application; upload photos, parts used, and findings. Complete DOT forms and all other required documentation timely. Operate independently, managing own daily schedule, meeting standard repair times, and obtaining parts from approved vendors. Communicate with management and support team to obtain repair estimate approvals, purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations. Assist Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II/Sr with inventory reconciliation and mentor on best practices for meeting repair time standards. Assist Mobile Tech Manager (MTM) with Quality Control Inspections. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and at least 7 years of experience; alternative combinations of higher education or certifications with 5 or 9 years experience allowed. Must possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. Must pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background check and DOT physical or provide a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining. Must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Required Certifications (obtained within 18 months) ASE T8 (PMI)
