Job Title: Major Gifts Officer (External)/Senior Development Manager (Internal) Job Type: Full-Time; Regular; Exempt Reports To: Chief of Staff Job Location: Hybrid; 2 days per week required in-person in our NYC offices, with additional days as needed to fulfill job duties Salary Range: Pregnancy Justice sets salary ranges based on experience and in accordance with the organizational pay scale. This position, which is internally designated as a Senior Manager level, seeks a candidate with 7-9 years of experience, representing a salary range of $103,500. Additional details are specified below:- 7 Years Experience: $103,500
- 8 Years Experience: $106,000
- 9 Years Experience: $108,500
Job Summary: The Major Gifts Officer is a newly created position that will lead strategy and execution for individual giving, including major gifts, while strengthening the infrastructure necessary to support revenue growth. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for all aspects of the individual and major donor giving cycle, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Major Gifts Officer works collaboratively and interdepartmentally within Pregnancy Justice and will partner closely with the President in fundraising efforts. The position is internally designated at the Senior Manager level and will supervise the Development Associate. The Major Gifts Officer reports to the Chief of Staff. Essential Job Functions: The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to: Individual & Major Giving Strategy
- Develop and execute a multi-year strategy to grow individual and major donor revenue.
- Build, manage, and advance a portfolio of 75-125 individual donors and prospects.
- Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for major gifts (average gift of $5,000+)
- Engage long-term supporters, lapsed donors, and prospective donors, identifying opportunities for increased connection and investment in the organization.
- Partner with the President and as applicable with the Board, on donor engagement.
- Draft compelling proposals, reports, and tailored donor communications.
- Leverage the organization's 25th anniversary as a platform to elevate visibility and deepen support from individual and major donors.
- Collaborate with communications teams to integrate anniversary storytelling into major donor cultivation strategies.
- Develop and manage end-of-year and other fundraising campaigns.
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of fundraising events.
- Directly supervise the Development Associate, a position that provides coordination across all Development activities, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management.
- Strengthen and cultivation and relationship management systems for individual and major donors.
- 7-9 years of nonprofit experience, with at least 3-5 years of work in individual and major gift fundraising.
- Proven track record of cultivating and closing five-figure gifts.
- Experience designing or significantly expanding an individual giving program.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Strong strategic planning, financial acumen, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

- Full fluency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish or another language is a plus.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements The work is primarily performed in an office setting and/or remotely, with offsite meetings and events. Occasional travel will be required. Suitable candidates must be able to read, write, and interpret documents and perform highly detailed work. This is largely a sedentary position that requires the employee to sit, stand, walk, and bend, and may occasionally require moving files and other equipment. As operational needs allow and with supervisory approval, staff are able to sign off early on Friday afternoons, typically at 1:00 pm for 9:00 am start, or 2:00 pm for a 10:00 am start so long as deadlines and operational needs are met. Staff are not eligible for comp time for time worked beyond a half-day on a Friday. Pregnancy Justice endeavors to avoid internal meetings on Fridays to allow for quiet focused work time. Operational demands of the organization will sometimes require employees to work longer hours, including nights and weekends. When this occurs, the employee's direct supervisor may authorize occasional alterations to their start and/or end times.
