About the Position

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with high acuity patients in an Intensive Care Unit setting. Experience with cardiovascular surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, and surgical patients. Description: The unit consists of 16 beds, plus 2 additional procedural beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2, with 1:1 for higher acuity patients and 1:3 for med-surg/floor status patients. Common diagnoses include cardiovascular surgery, level 2 trauma, NSTEMI/STEMI, and various surgical procedures. Must have experience with patient populations described above. Ability to titrate drips, including but not limited to Epi, norepi, propofol, and heparin. A charge nurse is available on every shift, who may take patients based on census and need. An intensivist is on-site 24/7. Respiratory therapy services are available in the ICU around the clock. RNs are required to monitor their own patients' telemetry and document rhythm strips. Staffing involves self-scheduling, with consideration given to approved time off where possible. There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend, along with holiday requirements. If not needed in the ICU, RNs may float to a medical intensive care unit or serve as patient observers. Dress code is professional and clean without specific color requirements.
