Paralegal Specialist

Job Title
The job duties include:
Responding to requests from various entities to explain the recoupment process and actions taken or proposed in individual cases.
Entering and maintaining status of cases in the office automated debt collection system.
Preparing documentation necessary for pursuit of recoupment cases, including responses to debtor inquiries, demand letters, creation and execution of promissory notes, and referral for criminal or civil action.
Providing paralegal support to staff attorneys in the litigation of any recoupment cases, preparing analysis and spreadsheets and collating and indexing files, memoranda and pleadings.
Adjudicating recoupment cases in accordance with applicable law, regulations, procedures, and TRICARE policy and precedents.
Conducting extensive and thorough legal research of Federal law and regulation, TRICARE policy and precedent, DoD administrative publications, opinions of the Comptroller General and Office of Legal Counsel, and automated legal research files.
Analyzing legal issues to determine the relevance and sufficiency of available legal, technical, or other related data to resolve legal issues arising in the performance of the TRICARE mission.
Conducting research to obtain pertinent information on particular subjects for use in replying to correspondence and in making decisions regarding policies and procedures.
