Financial Controller

Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 + Bonus + Potential Equity About the Opportunity An innovative and rapidly growing professional services organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting function during an exciting period of expansion. Reporting initially to the firm's leadership team and ultimately to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee the accounting function across multiple entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the continued integration of newly acquired businesses. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys building scalable financial processes, working in a fast-paced acquisition environment, and partnering closely with executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations across multiple business units and legal entities. Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Partner with executive leadership to standardize financial processes across acquired businesses. Perform technical accounting research and prepare supporting documentation for complex accounting matters. Support mergers and acquisitions by assisting with purchase accounting, financial integration, and operational transitions. Manage treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and accounts payable. Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors. Collaborate with external tax advisors to support tax compliance and planning. Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency. Partner with finance teams across acquired entities to ensure consistency, compliance, and best practices. Assist in building a scalable accounting infrastructure capable of supporting continued organizational growth. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Experience managing accounting for multi-entity or multi-business unit organizations. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and stock-based compensation (ASC 718). Previous experience supporting mergers & acquisitions, acquisitions integration, or private equity-backed organizations is highly desirable. Public accounting experience is preferred. Experience within professional services, legal services, or management services organizations (MSOs) is advantageous. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with senior leadership. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving, high-growth environment.
