Details Pediatric stepdown unit within an acute care children's hospital Single 39-bed unit encompassing all pediatric specialties Patient population ages 2 weeks to 18 years, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence Chronic illness population including patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit Patient ratio of 1:3-4 Day shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30) Every other weekend required No on-call requirements Floating within scope required to meet facility needs Block scheduling accommodated Meditech EMR used Requirements Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted) BLS and PALS certifications required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required 1:4 patient ratio experience required Vent, tracheostomy, and G-tube care experience required Meditech charting experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted Additional Information Provide direct nursing care for children with chronic illness, including tracheostomy and ventilator management, and gastric tube care Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged Facility will not consider candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at this facility or its affiliated clinics RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date; no RTO may be added after the contract begins Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers Candidates with a pending IL RN license may be considered First-time travelers will not be accepted for this role American Traveler Job ID P-749051.
