Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

You bring all of you to the Emergency Room every shift, every patient. And then, you take a lot of the ER home with you—the tough moments, the hopes, the tears, the possibilities, the unanswered questions, the thank you’s, the heartaches and, yes, even the smiles and laughter.

Your Everyday

1. Prioritize, coordinate and delegate all care touchpoints for your patients.
2. Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
3. Monitor and engage with patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events or patient condition changes.
4. Prevent and treat wounds.
5. Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
6. Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
7. Advise and consult with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
8. Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and care services. Address patient questions and concerns.
9. Contribute to the team by assisting others without being asked.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

1. Current nursing license to practice in the state of Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
2. Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
3. Current ACLS, CPI and PALS certifications. (New grad must obtain within 6 months of hire).
4. Current TNCC (CHNOLA and UMC ERs only)
5. ENPC (can be substitute for PALS at UMC or EJMC ERs)

Preferred:

1. Emergency Room experience and ER nursing knowledge
2. 2 + years of experience as an RN in the ER
