About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical Overflow Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg/Tele RN experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset, including: - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) - Care of patients with tubes and drains - IV start skills - Blood product administration - Wound care and dressing changes Description: RN position focused on MedSurg/Tele. Census includes an average of 51 patients per day. Patient types and common diagnoses include chronic diseases, congestive heart failure, mental health concerns, addiction services, COPD, diabetes management, wounds, and geriatric care. Patient ratios are typically RN: 1:4-6, with surge times potentially increasing to 1:7-8 based on acuity. Support within the department includes a nurse manager, clinical supervisors, staff RNs, CNAs, clinical mentors, a rapid response RN, and a house supervisor. Technology and equipment utilized include an electronic medical record system and various department-specific tools such as scales, EKG machines, and telemedicine carts. Floating will be required within the region and scope of practice based on departmental needs. Weekend rotation includes every other weekend, with holiday expectations requiring travelers to work 75% of holidays. Approval for requests for time off can be granted for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with contracted hours adjusted accordingly if unable to meet requirements.
