Positions are available at the Martinez VA Outpatient Clinic located at 150 Muir Road, Martinez, CA 94553. Competitive salary and benefits packages are available for qualified candidates. To address these challenges, we employ intelligent and committed staff who take care of our customers' success as if it is their own.ResponsibilitiesPerforms proper specimen collection and labeling procedures used for routine and special procedures in a clinic or hospital settingPerforms all standard laboratory techniques related to phlebotomy such as correcting patient identification, proper collection of samples (volume, tube type, temperature and/or timing conditions) and collection of specimens for urinalysis, 24-hour urines, toxicology and microbiological (sputum and urine), all defined within the standard operating proceduresMust accession all specimens in receiving area and ensure timely transport and distribution of specimens to all sections of the laboratory for immediate processing and testing; if unable to deliver samples due to peak workloads, contacts sectional personnel to transport samplesQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentCPT I or II license issued by the State of CaliforniaCompletion of an approved phlebotomy training course (or equivalent)American Heart Association (AHA) CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS)Minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 3 years as a patient service technician/phlebotomist2+ years of phlebotomist experience in an acute care setting is preferredProficiency in the following: blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, urine drug screen collections, paternity collections, breath/saliva alcohol testing, LCM/Cyber Tools, TestCup, pediatric blood collections, and difficult drawsNo sponsorship availablePay Range: $18.14 - $31.10 hourlyAll candidates must be able to:Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shiftLift up to 50 lbs from floor to waistLift up to 20 lbsCarry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distancePush/pull with 30 lbs of forceAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
