Position Overview Part‑time Medical Assistant – Sleep Center, Aurora Lakeland Medical Center (Department 38300). 24 hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Pay Range: $38.20 – $57.30 per hour. Major Responsibilities Adhere to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follow all policies, procedures, and maintain training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. Perform rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.). Assist provider with or perform procedures as ordered. Perform lab related duties: venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Conduct POCT per standing order/provider order. Complete CLIA‑approved waived laboratory tests and practice‑specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards. Administer medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration. Perform other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. Cross‑train to perform duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the Medical Assistant. Demonstrate effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintain a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensure equipment and supplies are in working order and areas are appropriately stocked. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, with understanding of growth and development across the lifespan and ability to assess and interpret patient data. Adhere to departmental job standards regarding age‑specific information. Minimum Job Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, OR 2 years of verifiable full‑time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5years. Certification/License: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certificate from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 45days unless otherwise determined. Experience: No experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians. Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a Windows operating system, and use of electronic email with exposure to electronic medical records systems. Customer service skills that support a positive patient experience. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday. Ability to lift 35pounds without assistance; for patient lifts over 35pounds or when the patient cannot assist, patient‑handling equipment must be used with at least one other team member when available. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine‑hand manipulation skills. Will be exposed to hazardous materials such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids on a frequent basis. Required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
