This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care within a fast-paced environment, focusing on diverse patient populations and conditions. Position Overview The Medical Surgical Unit is a 60-bed facility that handles a wide range of medical cases, including post-surgical patients, traumas, strokes, and inpatient hospice. Nurses will be responsible for providing safe and effective care, employing evidence-based practices to achieve positive patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care based on comprehensive patient assessments. Engage in lifelong learning through continued education, certifications, and literature review to enhance clinical expertise. Demonstrate leadership by sharing knowledge and serving as a clinical resource and professional role model. Maintain effective communication with colleagues and patients, utilizing techniques such as SBAR and interdisciplinary dialogue. Exhibit strong time management skills to enhance team productivity and performance. Fulfill other duties consistent with job responsibilities as directed by competency-based objectives. Essential Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in Med Surg nursing; floating or specialty unit experience does not qualify. Experience in a Level II or I Trauma facility is required. Current Michigan RN license is mandatory and must be active at the time of application. BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required. Work Schedule This position involves a commitment of 36 hours per week, with an expectation to work every other weekend. There are no on-call requirements for this role.
