Job Description

The Electronic Controls and Maintenance Engineer is a full-time, on-site role. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic control systems and related hardware used in manufacturing or product environments. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing system issues, performing repairs and preventative maintenance, updating control logic or firmware, and ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. The specialist collaborates with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support new equipment commissioning, process improvements, and system upgrades. Documentation of work performed, accurate reporting of issues, and adherence to company safety and quality standards are essential aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in electronics, electrical control systems, PLCs, sensors, and industrial automation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Experience with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of control panels, instrumentation, and related equipment.
• Familiarity with programming or configuring control software, HMI interfaces, or SCADA systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices around electrical equipment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineering, production, and maintenance teams.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or product development environment is beneficial.
• Willingness to learn new technologies, participate in training, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or 5+ years of experience with the design, fabrication, and commissioning of electro-mechanical equipment in the discipline of electrical controls in an industrial environment.
• Level 1 or 2 Massachusetts license to perform electrical work.
• An advanced level of skill programming PLCs from blank projects in ladder logic.
• A well demonstrated knowledge of all I/O interfacing types (Digital, Analog, Fieldbus, Ethernet, Serial) and the evaluation and selection process for them.
