Senior Director, Clinical Science, Infectious Disease, Hybrid

Senior Director role providing strategic clinical science leadership across infectious disease studies, programs, and assets at Merck. Responsible for disease area strategy, standardization of clinical science practices, portfolio governance contributions, and direct management of clinical science staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic clinical science leadership across multiple infectious disease studies and programs
- Establish standards and lead standardization of clinical science approaches across the disease area portfolio
- Guide interpretation of clinical data and support identification of scientific issues for governance discussions
- Manage and develop clinical science staff, including directors and principal scientists
- Contribute clinical science perspective to portfolio reviews, governance meetings, and senior leadership discussions
Requirements
- Deep expertise in infectious disease, including disease biology and treatment landscape
- Extensive experience in clinical development strategy and study design
- Demonstrated leadership in standardizing scientific practices across portfolios
- Experience managing and developing clinical science teams in matrix environments
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with regulatory, biostatistics, and medical affairs
- Track record of translating clinical data into strategic development decisions
