Job Overview
Portzen Construction is seeking full-time Carpenters.
Primary Responsibilities:
Read blueprints
Assist in building concrete formwork, pouring and finishing concrete
Rough framing wood or steel studs
Finish carpentry including doors, cabinets, countertops, interior and exterior trim
Ability to take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Work with Foreman or Project Superintendent to successfully complete projects
Ability to understand carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools including powered saw, hammers, rulers, etc.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required to join the apprenticeship program
Good understanding of basic math
Able to read and understand construction documents
Able to follow safety guidelines at all times
Squat and kneel repeatedly throughout the day
Lift 75 lbs. (one sheet of BBO plywood) repeatedly throughout the day
Will work in varied conditions including hot and cold exterior conditions
Must wear personal protective equipment provided
This position is a full-time position that can be seasonal, some travel may be required within a 150 mile radius of Dubuque.
