Thompson is headquartered in Sumter, South Carolina with offices spanning the United States, primarily southeast and central United States.Position DescriptionPerform supervisory responsibilities for managing all aspects of the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment according to customer specifications and blueprints by performing the following duties in a safe and timely manner with the best quality possible.Job ResponsibilitiesPlan, schedule and supervise the work of linemen, electricians and helpers engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical systems.Plan wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures, such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, and fuse boxes according to blueprints, schematic drawings, and sketches.Conduct periodic inspections using test equipment, such as voltmeter and ohmmeter and give on-site supervision of hazardous or unusual work.Estimate time and material cost for the project and track cost and job records.Explain company policy and enforce safety rules, regulations and working conditions.Train and instruct subordinates on detailed procedures.Other duties as assignedJob QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age.Must have completed Construction Electrician Course at a technical or trade school with at least 1 year of experience in the field or a minimum of 3 years of experience working as Electrical Helper in the field.In some cases, the Electrician may be required to have state or local certifications.Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.Utilize basic math and calculator, read tape measure and understand operation and usage of volt meter/multimeter.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.Required Tool List for Electrician:1 each Multi-Voltage Tester1 each 9" Side Cutters2 each 440 Channel Locks1 set 5/16" to 1/2" Nut Drivers1 set 3/8" to 3/4" Open End Wrenches1 each #14 thru #10 Lug Crimp Tool (T&B)1 each Needle Nose Pliers1 each Tool Box or Bag w/lock1 each Hack Saw and Blade1 set Allen Wrenches1 set Flat Head Screw Drivers (assorted sizes)1 each Large Phillip Head Screw Driver1 each Small Phillip Head Screw Driver1 set 3/8" to 3/4" Drive Sockets w/ratchet1 each 9" Level1 each 8" and 10" Crescent Wrenches1 pair Leather Gloves1 each 25' Tape Measure1 each Center Punch1 each Hammer1 each Working Flash Light1 each Tri-Square or Speed Square1 each Pad and Pencil1 each Wire Stripper1 each Diagonal CuttersMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively.Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments40 or more hours per week with possible weekend workBackground check and drug screen based on job location/requirementsBenefitsWe strive to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package.
