Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides specialized nursing care for high-risk perinatal patients at a Level III facility. This role involves managing labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum care with a focus on 1:1 labor support and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The nurse is responsible for patient assessments, fetal monitoring, and emergency interventions in a fast-paced maternity environment. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and certifications including BCLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients in a Level III perinatal unit.
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart tracings using Relias or AWHONN standards.
• Deliver individualized 1:1 nursing care during labor and 1:3 care in postpartum with CNA support.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, CRNAs, surgical techs, and health unit coordinators to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and perform surgical scrub duties as needed.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records.
• Participate in unit float assignments including postpartum and antepartum as required.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies including strict SVE (Sterile Vaginal Exam) protocols.

• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in labor and delivery or high-risk perinatal care.
• Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring.
• Strong clinical assessment and fetal monitoring skills.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Ability to provide 1:1 labor support and manage multiple patients in antepartum and postpartum settings.

• Experience in facilities with 200+ deliveries annually preferred; 100-200 deliveries considered.
• Prior experience in a Level II Trauma Center or similar high-acuity maternity unit.

• Weekend and float assignments required, including postpartum unit coverage.
• Call is not required for this position.
• Strict adherence to SVE protocol is mandatory.
• Local candidates are not accepted; relocation restrictions apply.
• Facility has a hard stop on scrub color: no reddish-orange permitted.

• 12-hour shifts with guaranteed hours; clinicians may be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week period.
• Shift assignments include day and night coverage to support 24/7 labor and delivery services.
