A premier US law firm is looking to add depth to its US capital markets capability in London, driven by sustained high-end transactional demand. This is a technical role within a mature practice, suited to lawyers seeking long-term alignment with a demanding transatlantic platform. The London office operates as an integrated extension of the US practice, with lawyers embedded in cross-border deal teams and expected to contribute at a consistently high level from day one.
Scope of work
- High yield bond offerings and complex debt capital markets transactions
- Leveraged and acquisition financings, including bridge and underwritten structures
- Liability management and restructuring-adjacent capital solutions
- Acting for issuers, sponsors and banks across Europe and selected emerging markets
- Regular collaboration with US colleagues and adjacent ECM, banking and M&A teams
- Meaningful drafting, execution and client-facing responsibility on live deals
Candidate requirements
- US-qualified associate with 2–6 years’ post-qualification experience
- Proven high yield and debt capital markets credentials gained at a leading firm
- Experience advising European and emerging market issuers strongly preferred
- Comfortable operating in lean teams with limited supervision
- Strong technical judgement, drafting ability and transactional stamina
- Academically strong and commercially grounded
Platform and outlook
London remains one of the few markets capable of supporting genuinely integrated US capital markets practices outside the United States. This role offers exposure to that work at scale, within a firm that prioritises technical quality, consistency and long-term commitment over flexibility narratives. It will suit lawyers who see London as a serious capital markets base rather than a short-term posting. A full Cravath salary is offered.
