Constellation Search Group is looking for a Controls Technician for a full-time direct hire position. This role involves supporting the building, setup, troubleshooting, and commissioning of custom automation equipment. The Controls Technician will collaborate with mechanical builders and technical team members to ensure machinery operates correctly through proper wiring, programming, and configuration.

Responsibilities:

• Download and configure programs for PLCs and HMIs.
• Download and configure parameter files for servo drives.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled automation equipment, including wiring, sensors, servo systems, pneumatic systems, and machine settings.
• Monitor PLC programs in real-time to diagnose machine sequencing and operational issues.
• Identify and resolve problems preventing PLC programs from properly cycling automated equipment.
• Configure and program various sensors used in automation machinery.
• Set up and tune servo motors and servo systems.
• Read and work from electrical schematics and CAD drawings.
• Troubleshoot AC and DC circuits used in industrial automation equipment.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical machine builders during equipment assembly, startup, testing, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

• 1–2+ years of experience with control systems and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Experience with PLCs; any PLC platform will be considered.
• Hands-on experience with servo systems.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
• Experience with CAD/SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of AC and DC electrical circuits used in automation machinery.
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical, controls, sensors, and automated equipment.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and controls is a plus.
• Experience building, commissioning, or troubleshooting custom automation machinery is a plus.
• Experience working alongside mechanical machine builders is a plus.
