Description
Sprout Social is looking to hire a Senior Director, FP&A (GTM) to join the Finance team. This is a senior leadership role at the center of Sprout's go-to-market financial strategy, responsible for driving rigorous planning, executive-level insight, and scalable processes across a large and complex business.

What you'll do
- Own the financial strategy, planning, and performance management for Sprout's go-to-market (GTM) organization-including Sales, Customer Success, and Support-with scope expected to evolve as the business grows
- Lead top-line forecasting, including ARR, revenue, and RPO, ensuring accuracy, rigor, and alignment with company objectives
- Own customer count and ARR reporting, including the metrics that contribute to external disclosures, ensuring accuracy and integrity at all times
- Drive annual planning for the GTM organization, partnering closely with Finance leadership to align GTM priorities with company-wide strategy; co-lead long-range planning with Corporate FP&A
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to the CRO, SVP of Customer Experience, and VP of Revenue Operations-influencing decision-making across growth, efficiency, and resource allocation
- Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and management of GTM spend (~$150M), including commissions modeling, ROI analysis, and headcount and capacity planning
- Anticipate business trends, risks, and opportunities before they surface-proactively framing scenarios, stress-testing assumptions, and preparing executive stakeholders for high-stakes conversations ahead of the curve
- Own and evolve KPI reporting and executive-level insights, translating complex financial data into clear, compelling narratives that drive decisions at the highest levels of the organization
- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing FP&A team-establishing the structure, processes, and talent to support a growing and evolving organization
- Champion the development of scalable financial models, systems, and processes, leveraging automation and AI to improve forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and decision support
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Data, and Business Operations to ensure alignment across financial, operational, and strategic planning
What you'll bring
You are a strategic finance leader with deep experience supporting go-to-market organizations in a SaaS environment. You bring a rare combination of analytical rigor, executive presence, and operational discipline-and you know what "good" looks like because you've built and worked within best-in-class FP&A functions. You thrive when you can shape strategy, drive processes, and lead teams through complexity and change.
The minimum qualifications for this role include:
- 12+ years of FP&A experience, with significant experience supporting GTM or Sales functions in a SaaS or subscription-based business; exceptional candidates with 8-9 years of highly relevant experience will be considered
- 5+ years of people management experience, including building, developing, and scaling high-performing finance teams
- Proven track record of owning top-line forecasting, including ARR, revenue, and key SaaS operating metrics
- Experience partnering directly with executive leadership (C-suite and VP-level) to influence investment decisions, resource allocation, and strategic planning
- Demonstrated ownership of large, complex budgets across multiple GTM functions, including commissions modeling and headcount planning
- Exceptional communication skills-you can translate complex financial analysis into clear executive narratives, and you prepare leaders for high-stakes conversations before they happen, not after
- Strong operational and process discipline: you build rigorous, repeatable processes and hold yourself and your team to a high standard of accuracy and accountability
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to move between the details and the strategic picture
Preferred qualifications for this role include:
- Experience contributing to external reporting requirements for public companies, including ownership of key operating metrics
- Strong familiarity with FP&A tools (e.g., Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive) and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Coupa)
- Experience driving process transformation, automation, or AI-enabled forecasting and reporting
- Background in high-growth SaaS or technology companies, ideally with exposure to multiple planning cycles and periods of organizational change
How you'll grow
Within 1 month, you'll plant your roots, including:
- Build relationships with Finance leadership, GTM executives, and key cross-functional partners
- Develop a deep understanding of Sprout's business model, GTM strategy, and financial drivers
- Assess existing forecasting models, reporting frameworks, and planning processes, and identify the highest-leverage opportunities for improvement
Within 3 months, you'll start hitting your stride by:
- Taking full ownership of GTM forecasting and establishing a consistent, scalable planning cadence
- Building trust as a strategic partner to executive stakeholders across the GTM organization
- Driving early improvements to forecasting accuracy, reporting clarity, and executive decision support
- Demonstrating the ability to anticipate questions, frame risks proactively, and bring your business partners the analysis they need before they ask
Within 6 months, you'll be making a clear impact through:
- Leading improvements to planning, forecasting, and KPI reporting processes at scale
- Influencing GTM investment strategy through data-driven insights and scenario modeling
- Beginning to evolve team structure and capabilities to meet growing business needs
- Establishing yourself as an indispensable partner to the CRO and other GTM leaders
Within 12 months, you'll make this role your own by:
- Leading GTM financial strategy through annual and long-range planning cycles
- Building a best-in-class GTM FP&A function that operates with rigor, agility, and a strong point of view
- Establishing yourself as a key strategic partner to executive leadership and a driver of company-wide financial performance
- Developing your team and creating a culture of ownership, high standards, and continuous improvement

Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. Our salary ranges reflect the expected earning potential for this role. Individual pay is based on geographic zone, relevant experience, and skills.
Our current hiring range for this role: $200,000.00 - $255,000.00 annually. Offers are made within this range, with opportunities to grow within the broader band based on performance and impact.
We share both our current hiring range and our broader geographic salary bands to provide transparency into our compensation philosophy. This ensures you understand not only your starting potential but also the long-term growth potential available as you progress in your role.
We have two geographic pay zones in the United States:
Zone 1 (New York, California, Washington) : $220,000.00 - $330,000.00
Zone 2 (All other US states) : $200,000.00 - $300,000.00
These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent, and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.
Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout's equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit). Employees are able to enroll in Sprout's company's 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers "Flexible Paid Time Off" and ten paid holidays.
