About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: - Minimum of 1 year in Intermediate or PCU level of care experience - Minimum of 2 years if only Med/Surg experience with some PCU - Must have completed at least 2 thirteen-week assignments for first-time travelers License: - Active nursing license Certifications: - BLS - ACLS - NIHSS - AACCN (preferred) - CCRN (preferred) Must-Have: - Trauma experience - Experience with stroke patients and performing neuro checks - Experience with high flow oxygen, chest tubes, wound vacs, and related medical care - Experience with cardiac drips and insulin titration Description: Immediate start needed. The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with air flight services. The unit has 12 beds and handles trauma patients including neuro strokes and stable craniotomies. It also supports patients with respiratory illnesses such as COVID, flu, and pneumonia. Additional patient care includes those on long-term trachs with vents and respiratory failure requiring assistance such as Bipap or high-flow oxygen. Post-operative care includes general surgery, sepsis management, and thyroid storm treatment. Cardiac patient types include STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, and AFIB. Patient ratios are RN: 1:3-4 and Techs: 1:6-12, depending on staffing. Support on the unit includes charge nurses, resource nurses, and hospitalists. The facility has a charting system that prioritizes specific software. Floating to ED, ICU, or other departments is expected as needed. Weekend rotation is required every other week. Time off must be approved through managerial channels. Holiday expectations vary based on unit needs. Scrub color is professional attire, no specific color required.
