Position Full‑time Custodian Job Id: 538; # of Openings: 1; Location: Colorado Springs, CO; Reports To: Custodial Manager; Supervisory: No; Non‑exempt; Pay Type: Hourly Compensation Pay range: $16.00–$18.50/hr. Benefits: For employees contracted for 30 hours per week or more, Thomas MacLaren School pays for 100% of the employee’s base insurance premiums (Health, Dental, Vision, Long‑term and Short‑term disability, Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, and Life insurance) for the base level coverages. No benefits are provided to employees contracted for less than 30 hours per week. General Purpose Maintain the proper upkeep and cleanliness of the buildings and grounds; maintain the utility infrastructure of the school campus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform daily custodial operations including cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, laboratories, stairways, corridors, closets, gymnasium, locker rooms, and lobbies. Follow Universal Standard Precautions and safety protocol when appropriate. Maintain the upkeep of the facility and furniture to include repairs, painting, and cleaning, including the management of waste disposal. Assist the facility manager in the maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems of the facility. Perform routine and special project work on the facility and grounds (e.g., building drama set for school play). Assist with snow removal and grounds maintenance. Attend all training as assigned by Facility Manager. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications Self‑motivated with the ability to perform duties with minimal oversight. Excellent communication skills. Works well on a team. Enthusiasm for working in a school environment, serving its students and staff. Education and Experience High School diploma or GED. At least 1 year of experience in a custodial or grounds‑keeping role preferred. Physical Requirements Work often involves extreme cold or heat, visual acuity near/far, heights, hearing, noise, speech, driving, eye/hand coordination, walking/uneven surfaces; travel locally and nationally; moving heavy items occasionally to frequently. The job requires lifting and carrying weights ranging from 0–30 lbs. to over 100 lbs. and operating machinery to a degree with different weight categories.
